9-8-05 Open letter to the press core concerning Bushs handling of Hurricanne Katrina

Hello,

Many reporters and journalists expressed shock yesterday over two polls, where 90% of Republicans thought George Bush did a good or great job handling the Hurricane Katrina disaster; but is that really so shocking?

For over five years the US Press Core has considered George Bush untouchable. Any and all critique was subdued, excused, dismissed, or simply silenced. The US Press Core allowed WABC Talk Radio and Foxnews to distort and spin every situation in George Bush’s favor.

It is the US Press Core’s negligence that allowed Michael Brown, a former 11 year Saudi Arabian horse commissionaire, to be appointed as the head of FEMA. The number two man at FEMA is a former Bush campaign fund raiser, and the number three man at FEMA is a former media professional who made campaign ads for George Bush. Obviously, none of those in charge of FEMA have any experience in disaster management.

The US Press Core also allowed ignored or did not question countless events including:

 The Diebold paperless voting machines
The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth Ads (none of whom knew of fought with John Kerry)
Election inconsistencies in Ohio and Florida
Former Lobbyists being appointed to key positions in Government
No Weapons of Mass Destruction begin found in Iraq
The reasons for going to War changed from WMDs, to spreading democracy, to now… fighting the terrorists
The Clear Skys act, which actually lowers EPA Standards
The outing of a former CIA operative
The outing of a 15 year CIA operation named Brewster Jennings
Destroying the reputations of anyone who opposed the Bush Administration, such as Ambassador Joe Wilson
The Downing Street Memos, which proved war in Iraq was misrepresented
11 Billion dollars missing in Iraq
Over 10 Billion Dollars given to Halliburton, in a no bid contract
The outrageous outsourcing of American Jobs by this administration
Tax credits which benefited the richest Americans
Congressional “inquiries” of CIA agents, which were boycotted by the Republican Party
Abstinence Only being taught in our schools, while schools in Ohio now have a 12% pregnancy rate
The FDA being intimidated by religious fundamentalists (such as the morning after pill not being approved)
Bush appointing the top three FEMA officials without any experience in disaster management

Many Democrats, progressives, liberals, and centrists, have begun listening to democracynow, NPR, and airamericaradio for their news; as the main stream media has failed them.

In Closing, although the Hurricane Katrina disaster appears to have woken up the US Press Core however, it is the US Press Core that has allowed one party rule to flourish, it is the US Press Core that has failed America; sadly, it may too late to reverse one party rule.

Thank you,
Anthony Congiano
